From my favorite affordable leggings to books that inspire your soul, here is my Christmas gift-buying guide for the yogi in your life.
Yoga Gear
From yoga mats to leggings to bolsters, these are some of my favorite items to enhance my yoga practice.
ColorfulKoala Leggings
I love these affordable leggings. I’ve had mine for years, and they are still bright, stretchy, and stay put. I can’t ask for much more from an affordable pair of yoga pants.
Tiger Paws Wrist Supports
These are the wrist supports that I use any time my wrists are feeling overworked or I’m practicing arm balances. They take a bit of time to get used to, but once broken in, they don’t interfere with practice and keep my wrists happy and healthy.
Organic Buckwheat Bolster
No yoga practice is complete without a bolster. I like this buckwheat bolster since it’s organic, and I can shift the filling around a bit to make it fit my body. I’ve also added some dried lavender to mine so that it smells great and helps me to relax.
Manduka GRP Mat
My practices tend to get a but sweaty, so I need a sticky mat to help me from face-planting. I love the Manduka GRP mat. It is a bit pricey, but it has just the right amount of grip without being sticky, and I love the thickness and level of cushion.
Gaiam Dry-Grip Mat
This mat is similar to the Manduka GRP, but is slightly more affordable. It feels a little softer than the Manduka but still has excellent texture and anti-slip properties.
LifeStyle
Here are two of my favorite lifestyle items that aren’t directly related to my yoga practice.
Acupressure Mat and Pillow Set
I like to use my acupressure mat to help relax at the end of the day. I pair it with Legs Up The Wall Pose (Viparita Karani) while listening to a podcast. Acupressure mats take some getting used to, so start with just a few minutes and work your way up to 10-15. Acupressure mats are more likely to leave you with an “eeiik” expression than an “ahhhh” one, but your back will thank you afterward.
Plant Therapy Essential oils
I love essential oils. I diffuse them when I’m writing a blog or planning a class, add them to my homemade household cleaners, and apply them topically when needed. There are many excellent brands of essential oils, but I’ve become a fan of Plant Therapy over the years. They seem to strike a good balance between quality and affordability. You can use their Breathe Easy Set, which includes several of their best-sellers, or try a seasonal scent, such as Holiday Season, or one of my favorite blends, such as Germ Fighter.
Books to Inspire Your Soul
No Christmas would be complete without a good book to read by the fire. Here are just a few of my favorites that you can read or gift this Christmas season.
Moving Meditations: For Your Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength by Callie Drozinski
You may already be familiar with Callie from her devotional post. You can get more of her inspiring content along with yoga poses to create a moving meditation in her debut book, Moving Meditations.
Three Spiritual Classics in One Volume by A.W. Tozer
A.W. Tozer is one of my favorite Christian authors. His books are relatable and inspiring, and I learn something every time I read them. This compilation includes three of his most famous books. I’ve read The Pursuit of God multiple times, and it always inspires prayer and journaling.
In His Image by Jen Wilkin
You’re missing out if you haven’t read or listened to Jen Wilkin. Jen Wilkin is one of the hosts of the Knowing Faith Podcast and has written numerous books and Bible studies. She’s a proponent of Biblical Literacy, yet she can make complex theological truths understandable and relevant. Any of her books would be a great gift, but I’m particularly fond of In His Image.
Daily Joy: A Devotional for Women
This year-long devotional guides you to engage with and reflect on God’s word every day. There are over 50 authors in this book, including Jen Wilkin, who is mentioned above. This devotional focuses on Biblical teaching and God’s transforming grace. I read through this devotional shortly after it was published and have since passed it along to a friend since I enjoyed it so much.
Breath as Prayer: Calm Your Anxiety, Focus Your Mind, and Renew Your Soul by Jennifer Tucker
This book combines scripture reading, devotionals, reflections, and breath prayers into one beautiful book. If you’re new to breath prayers or looking for a short yet impactful devotion, Breath as Prayer is what introduced me to the life-changing spiritual discipline of breath prayers.
